FAQs

Q; When can we walk on our new Eco-Grip® floors?

Customers can begin walking on Eco-Grip® floors immediately after installation is complete. It is recommended to wait at least 24 hours before cleaning the surface or allowing significant water flow, and 72 hours before rolling heavy equipment (pizza ovens, etc.) across the surface. Please do not use forklifts with solid tires or small metal casters; air-filled tires are fine.

Q: What type of prep-work needs to be done before Eco-Grip® can be installed?

Eco-Grip® will not create an even surface unless the base it is installed on is even. It is important to repair any significant damage to the flooring and have a smooth, even surface ready before installation. Do not seal the concrete before an Eco-Grip® installation. Sealants will require scarification. Eco-Grip® can be installed over existing epoxy flooring but will need extra prep-work before we can begin installing your new Eco-Grip® floors.

Q: What type of maintenance does Eco-Grip® restaurant floors require?

Eco-Grip® restaurant floors require very little maintenance and are easy to keep clean. It is important to avoid letting contaminants such as oil and grease build up on the surface, as they can cause damage to the floors over time if not properly cleaned. Overall, Eco-Grip® is resistant to chemicals, grease, and oils as long as it is cleaned regularly. Eco-Grip® is waterproof and has a built-in micro biocide that eliminates the production of mold, bacteria, and mildew.

Q: I am looking for an alternative to quarry tile, but not sure Eco-Grip will fit into my budget. What is the price range of your product?

The installation price of Eco-Grip floors will depend on several factors, such as the amount of prep work required, what design or layout you would like, the location of the project, and if you need any repairs before installation. Eco-Grip can save you money compared to tile because you will not need to factor in the cost of labor and materials for installing a waterproofing membrane, cementitious wallboard, Portland mud set, or continual maintenance like re-grouting.

Q: Your product sounds great, but what are the potential issues I need to be concerned with?

Eco-Grip flooring has very few concerns and is generally a low-maintenance flooring option. It is important to keep in mind that certain chemicals, oils, and grease can affect the performance of your Eco-Grip flooring if they are allowed to build up. It is important to keep your flooring clean to prolong its life after installation.

Q: We have a historical building where we need to have the floor replaced. Can you install over gypcrete?

Eco-Grip can be installed over virtually any type of substrate as long as it is sound and not holding water. Eco-Grip can be and is regularly installed over plywood, concrete, hardwood, brick, and metal. If you have gypcrete substrate, we can use a special one-part waterproof mastic instead of our standard two-part epoxy. If you’re unsure whether Eco-Grip can be installed in your project, contact us and let us see what we can do for your project.

Q: Our kitchen is on the second floor, and we have water leaking into our lower-level dining room. Would installing Eco-Grip resolve this issue?

Eco-Grip utilizes a flash cove baseboard that folds up the walls. This eliminates concerns that generally arise with water leaks where the flooring meets the baseboards. This means that once your Eco-Grip flooring is installed, the floors will be completely waterproof, solving leaking problems that seep into lower floors.

Q: My epoxy floor was installed years ago, and I have been putting off replacing it. What type of prep work is needed before you can install Eco-Grip?

If you have a pre-existing epoxy floor that needs replacing, we will begin your project by scraping up any loose areas of epoxy that are peeling up. Then we will grind the floor’s surface and skim coat areas as needed. Once this is complete, we will degrease the floor and install your new Eco-Grip floor.

Q: My subflooring is uneven and/or is damaged and has cracks or chips. Can I still install Eco-Grip?

Eco-Grip mimics the exact terrain of the subfloor. Humps, bumps, divots, etc. are all potential sources of bubbles under the floor and will need to be repaired before installation. Poorly sloped subfloors cannot be corrected by installing Eco-Grip and can only be corrected with proper leveling or re-sloping. If your floor needs repairs or re-sloping, it will need to be completed before installing Eco-Grip.

Q: I need to use my new floors ASAP. How long until I can walk on my new floor after installation?

Usually, you can begin walking on your new Eco-Grip floors immediately after installation. We recommend waiting 24 hours before conducting any heavy cleaning or significant water flow and 72 hours before rolling heavy equipment (large pizza ovens, etc.) on the surface. If you have questions about when you can perform certain tasks on your new flooring, ask us before installation so we can give you the most accurate timeline possible.

Q: How can I ensure that I have the best conditions for Eco-Grip floor installation?

Before installation, it is important to make sure the surface below is smooth, properly sloped towards drains, and free of pits, humps, bumps, divots, holes, etc. Do not seal your concrete floors before Eco-Grip installation. If your concrete is sealed, it will require scarification before we are able to install Eco-Grip floors.

Q: Can I install Eco-Grip flooring myself?

No, you will need a factory-trained installer to install any Eco-Grip floor projects. This is to ensure that all installation procedures have been properly followed. Having Eco-Grip floors professionally installed guarantees that the job will be done correctly.
